Joya Yoga Teacher training is partnered with the The Yoga Company Teacher Training which has been certifying instructors in the art and practice of yoga since 2003. We create a supportive and non-competitive environment so that each student may come into their own personal and unique teaching style while cultivating the knowledge and confidence to teach a safe and engaging yoga class to a wide variety of students. Many of our graduates are well known teachers in Bay Area yoga studios, gyms and community centers. Our curriculum is in full compliance with accreditation standards developed by the Yoga Alliance.

About the Instructors

Audrey Allen

She is grateful to, and inspired by the many teachers she has had over the years and continues to integrate their wisdom into her teaching.

Deanna Hasni

I found Bikram Yoga when I needed it the most in my life. My husband and I were heavily invested in the Real Estate market, him being a Real Estate Broker while I worked for a mortgage bank. We owned several homes and several Real Estate offices throughout California. When the market crashed in 2008, we lost everything. I was at the lowest point in my life. I was feeling very depressed about getting laid-off when we just had a baby a few months before. I was also the heaviest that I had ever been. Years prior, a good friend of mine who had practiced Bikram Yoga for many years recommended that I try it.
One random day, I walked past a Bikram Yoga studio, grabbed a flyer and decided to go in for a class. My first session was extremely difficult and I barely did any of the postures. The teacher told me to just stay in the class the entire 90 minutes, even if that’s all I did. I followed this instructor’s suggestion and when I went home that day, I felt a little change. I had this amazing burst of happiness and energy. I decided to go again the next day, and the next day. I kept hearing the teachers telling me to “trust the process”. Within two weeks, I was completely on the hook. Bikram Yoga helped rescue me from my darkest days. It was within my first month of regular practice that I knew I would one day become a teacher and own my own studio. I wanted to help spread this amazing practice that brought me so much love, peace, and confidence.

Lisa Jang

I have been teaching group fitness and yoga since 2001. Fast forward, my journey has evolved to be a continuous inquiry on interoception, anatomy, embryology, movement, fitness and Chinese energy healing. I co-facilitate the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and lead the Yin Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Yoga Company and Just Breathe Yoga {Rivermark}.  When I’m not teaching, I enjoy face-planting in fun arm balances, falling out of tree pose and doing mostly the yin practice.

Alison Cardenas

Alison began her yoga journey in high school but it wasn’t until a grave knee injury many years later that she realized the profound healing and transformative power of yoga.  Through a dedicated yoga practice she found not only a healing that doctors said wasn’t possible without surgery, but realized she was a happier person inside and out.  Since those early years Alison’s yoga journey has continued to blossom as she has shaped and centered her life around yoga and discovered the joy of sharing her love of it with others. Her classes focus on warming up safely, moving with the breath, and going within to reap the benefits and peace that can be found in silence.

Alison received her certification through Blooming Lotus Yoga (Yoga Alliance 200 hr certification) and Anti-Gravity Yoga (aerial yoga certification) and has been teaching restorative, vinyasa, and aerial classes since 2013.
