WHO WE ARE
FITNESS FOR THE MIND, BODY & SPIRIT.
Our mission is to empower communities of all ages, sizes, shapes, genders, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and colors to come together as one by providing a safe and encouraging environment to practice wellness and strengthen the mind, body and spirit.
We opened our first studio in Livermore, CA in 2015 and shortly thereafter acquired our second Dublin, CA location in 2016. We added our San Ramon and Castro Valley Studios in 2018 and 2019 respectively. As our student body has grown, we have expanded our class selection and program offerings to include Non-Heated Yoga , Pilates, Cycle and a unique Strength training program that fuses eastern and western philosophy in a new and innovative platform.
Joya’s teachers and studios nurture, heal and strengthen the mind, body and spirit all while inspiring a sense of community and togetherness.
Classes are offered 7 days week, year round and all throughout the day in each of our locations.
Our team of professionals are among the most respected and educated teachers in their respective modalities and come from all over the world with a goal of bringing a rich, encouraging and supportive experience to each of our students.
Whether it be a Yoga, Pilates or Cycle Class, our staff will provide support and will teach with compassion and care. Instructors are encouraged to allow students to approach their health, fitness & wellness goals from a complete and holistic yogic perspective.
In the word of our founder, Deanna “Our mission is beyond just fitness, but to provide and educate our communities that wellness is not just about a healthy life, but a happy and meaningful one as well.”
At Joya studios, your best is always good enough! We invite you to take a class at any of our studios and FEEL the difference!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IF I’M NOT FLEXIBLE?
You do NOT need to be flexible to practice yoga. The Bikram Yoga series is accessible to anyone-stiff or limber, strong or weak, beginners or seasoned practitioners. Every class is the same series of 26 postures. Performing the same sequence each time offers you a consistent experience, allowing you to move at your own pace and as your personal practice evolves.
IS THERE A BEGINNER CLASS?
Classes are open to all regardless of your age or fitness level. What makes Bikram yoga so special that each person works through the postures at their own ability. All new students, please arrive 15 minutes prior to class.
WHY THE HEAT?
The heated environment warms up muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints, which allow for a safer and deeper practice. A warm body is also less prone to injury. Heat expands your blood vessels which promotes blood circulation and increases energy. Lastly, your skin is the largest organ in your body and sweating is the quickest way to remove toxins from your body.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO CLASS?
You should bring a yoga mat, water, and two towels (one for class and one for showering). You can rent yoga mats and towels at the studio. You can purchase your hot yoga mat, water and other electrolyte rich drinks at the studio.
CAN I LOSE WEIGHT?
Relative weight loss can be one of the results of a regular practice (minimum three times a week); however, it is not the main purpose of practicing hot yoga. Your yoga practice is a mind-body experience, improving both physical and mental strength and flexibility. Yoga is best implemented as part of a well-balanced lifestyle with proper exercise and diet.
WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE SAME 26 POSTURES?
Practicing the same series offers several benefits. First, there is a sense of consistency. You become familiar with the postures over time and discover your own level of practice. Secondly, although the postures stay the same, your body is constantly changing and evolving. Strength, flexibility and state of mind are always in flux and you will find a different challenge every time you step onto your mat.
CAN BIKRAM YOGA PROVIDE A CARDIOVASCULAR WORKOUT?
Depending on your body type, metabolism and with 100% effort, you should be able to achieve your personal target heart rate during class. Holding various postures will massage the heart, elevate pulse and deliver cardiovascular benefits.
WHAT IF I FEEL DIZZY, LIGHTHEADED OR NAUSEOUS DURING CLASS?
This is common, especially for beginning students who are still adjusting to the heat. Make sure you are well hydrated up to an hour before class (to allow your body to process the fluids). Try practicing at different times of the day to see how your body responds. Also make sure you are getting enough natural electrolytes when you hydrate. Electrolytes-enhanced beverages or simply a pinch of sea salt with honey and lemon in your water bottle should suffice.
WHAT IF I FEEL SORE AFTER I PRACTICE?
This is normal. Soreness is caused by lactic acid build up in the muscles (meaning your muscles cannot extract enough oxygen from your blood). The most effective way to remove lactic acid is to stretch the muscles and as you build more muscle mass, your body will become more efficient at consuming oxygen during exercise. The answer is, come back to the studio and continue your transformation!
CAN I PRACTICE IF I AM PREGNANT?
If you have been practicing regularly for at least six months, you can continue to practice through your pregnancy. If you are new to Hot Yoga, it is advised to wait until after week twelve. Please also consult with your doctor and with us.
CAN I BRING MY CHILD TO THE STUDIO WITH ME?
Yes! Parents who have an active unlimited membership at Bikram Yoga Livermore can bring their child to class for free if they meet the age requirements. The purpose of brining a child to yoga studio is for the child to practice yoga with the parent and get them started with yoga early. Students cannot bring their children to the studio to watch or wait for the parent, while the parent is practicing yoga. Parents that are not on an active unlimited Membership much purchase an introductory month or single class for their child.
WHO CAN PRACTICE?
Kids 12-17 can practice the entire series, Kids 8-12 can practice the floor series only if the child is under 12, they must be able to manage themselves in the lobby area when not in class (during the standing series). Children must have a way of entertaining themselves while they wait to join the group for the floor series. We suggest that you bring books to read, homework, or a tablet to watch movies (must bring headphones). Parents are responsible for the safety and actions of their children. One child per parent, please.

What our clients say about us
I frequent this studio as often as I can for a number of reasons. Only one of which is Bikram, those of us who love Bikram we just get it. The owners, however, Razi and Deanna, are another story. Loving, warm, very invested in creating a gorgeous, clean studio. It really sparkles. That and they have amazing teachers and are fast becoming more than “just a yoga studio”. They have intriguing offerings on sound healing, energy, nutrition, breath exercises, chakra, and all things yoga history. You can come here and get whatever you want. Deanna is a brilliant marketeer and comes up with all sorts of fun workouts to try such as Yin Yoga, hot pilates, Barre, ball classes. Never a dull moment at this studio. I highly recommend Livermore Bikram.
When I practiced Bikram for several months at this studio, I became more aware of my posture and balance. The staff is friendly, studio is clean and chic, you can buy beverages before/after class and rent mats and towels, if needed. Oh yea, and it’s really clean!! They’ll have fun challenges too during the summer (30, 60, 90 day) where you get to meet people who appreciate a good practice and challenge.
